BMW MEV9.2 N46 ECM - Prompt repair service
Information
Repair service of customers own unit
- This is a test and repair service of the customers own unit.
- For late E46 series 318i (2004-2005) the customer must send the ECM, key and EWS (immobiliser) for testing.
- The EWS is located above the pedal assembly and mounted to the firewall
- For E90/E91 series 320i (2005-2012) the customer must send the ECM, key and CAS (immobiliser) for testing.
- CAS is located alongside the steering column
- NOTE: These units are often water damaged.
- When refitting your repaired or Exchange Engine Module (ECM) it is imperative that you rectify the reason for the water ingress.
- The Engine ECM is mounted in a sealed ECM-Box (plastic Box) near the firewall, below the windscreen on the passenger side of the engine bay.
- When there is a build-up of leaves and foreign matter at the bottom of the windscreen on the passenger side ,the drain will become blocked.
- When the vehicle is washed, or it rains, water will then run down the windscreen and overflow into the ECM-Box. Eventually the Engine ECM will fail.
- This Drain must be completely cleared and tested for operation.
- The ECM-box (E-BOX) drain also needs to be checked for blockage.
